Non-Destructive Digging

Terratest invested in Non-Destructive Digging Units in 2009 to aid clients and drill crews in safely preparing boreholes. The Non-Destructive Digging Units or Vacmasters employ high pressure air to dislodge the soil while a vacuum simultaneously extracts the cuttings to 205 litre drums. The Vacmaster crews can resort to high-pressure water if they encounter stubborn rubble or the like. This methodology allows the borehole to be prepared to a depth of two metres, whilst greatly reducing the risk that underground utilities will be damaged if they are encountered.

The Non-Destructive Digging methodology provides an alternative to hand-augering or drilling, without the risk to underground utilities, with considerable savings in time, and most importantly, without exposing the drill crews and clients to the safety risks of damaging underground facilities.

Whether the Vacmaster crews visit the site before the drill crews are schedule to begin drilling, or the vacuuming is completed just ahead of the drill crews, Non Destructive Digging offers clients great savings in time the peace of mind.
